Hey Strangekittens! This week’s look is a painterly, feathered look. I was wandering around the dollar store (again, lol) and this idea popped into my head when I saw some super thin brushes.
It’s an oddly pretty look, but I kinda like it.
I also picked up a nail dremel, so handy!
What you’ll need:
- A base colour – I used Essie’s Beach Bum blu
- An accent colour – I used OPI Strawberry Margarita
- 2 really fine paintbrushes. Like, thin as a pen point.
Step one:
Make sure you lay a clear base coat down first, it’ll really help make it easier to paint on. Using the first fine brush, paint a feather with your coloured base coat. It’s simply a stalk, with strokes outward. It’s best to start from the bottom of your nail. Doesn’t need to be tidy, we’re going for a smudgy oil paint look.
Step two:
Draw another feather, but over the middle of the last one. You’re basically doing the same thing but smaller.
If you wanted to, you could do a third colour too. I’m feeling lazy, so I just stopped at two
You should get something similar to this:
Enjoy your weekend kittens. I’m happy, it’s finally gonna be sunny this weekend! I GET TO WEAR SHORTS YOU GUYS.
My pale legs will blind passers-by.
