Monday Meow: Shu Uemura Lash Curler review

Hey guys. I finally bought a proper lash curler…the famous Shu Uemura one.

Which I should have done ages ago because i’ve got giant eyelashes, and zillions of them. It’s actually a genetic mutation that gives me 3 rows of lashes on the top, 2 on the bottom. Sounds cool, but not all of them grow the right way and they poke me in the damn eyeball!

So a good lash curler is an actual medical need for me, haha 🙂

So, here’s a picture of the legendary curler:

Along with the black lip gloss I also picked up at Sephora…you might see that later 🙂

It comes with a spare pad, which I’ve already lost! That being said, I’ve been told they take years to wear out in the first place.

Anyway, I was recommended this one by a couple different people, for some weird reason:

It’s straighter. Well, how is the useful for me? For me, seeing as my lashes go all the way to the ends and around the corners, it’s easier to get them in the clamp. It’s straighter than most, therefore easier to poke in there to reach the stragglers. A more curved one would just pinch my lids, that’s why I’ve put off buying one.

That’s all it took for me to want it! At first, I thought that Shu Uemura was no longer in North American stores. Apparently that just applies to the US, and not Canada, as I figured out when the Sephora girl looked at me like I was mad 😛

Simply said: This curler is awesome. And to be honest, I am a complete noob with these things. I’m also fairly clumsy, but it was damn near impossible to screw up with this one. The way it’s designed, it’s really easy to get my lashes in there. This was another previous issue, because of the length, sometimes they wouldn’t fit in right, or get bent and actually folded over! None of that here.

The pads grip enough to keep things in place, but are smooth enough to give a nice, even curl. Again, pretty hard to screw up here. I’ve managed to bend my lashes at right angles with some curlers, this one, you get a beautiful curl. No pulling or tugging.

It’s also pretty easy on your hands too. Big enough for my fingers, but still quite slimline and small enough to fit in my make-up bag.

So that’s that. I’d highly recommend this curler to anyone. At $24 CAD it was an excellent buy. Also, it gives you an excuse to go to Sephora. For people in the US, apparently you can still order from the Shu Uemura site online!
